GKIDS introduced on Tuesday that it has licensed Fortune Favors Girl Nikuko, Studio 4°C‘s anime movie of Kanako Nishi‘s Gyokō no Nikuko-chan (Nikuko of the Fishing Harbor) novel, for North America. GKIDS plans to display the movie in theaters in North America in 2022.

Fortune Favors Girl Nikuko opened in Japan on June 11.

Ayumu Watanabe (Kids of the Sea, House Brothers) directed the anime at Studio 4°C. Satomi Ooshima (Hataraki Man) wrote the script. Kenichi Konishi (Kids of the Sea, A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd) was the character designer and chief animation director. Sanma Akashiya (Santa Claus Tsukamaeta! screenwriter and unique creator) deliberate and produced the movie. ASMIK Ace distributed the movie.

10-year-old Kurumi Inagaki carried out a GReeeeN-produced cowl of “Picture no Uta,” the debut single of veteran singer-songwriter Takuro Yoshida, because the movie’s theme music. GReeeeN carried out the movie’s ending theme music “Taketen.”

The movie gained the “Axis: The Satoshi Kon Award for Excellence in Animation” award as a Particular Point out at Montreal’s twenty fifth Fantasia Worldwide Movie Pageant in August, and in addition gained the Korean Society of Cartoon and Animation Research (KOSCAS) President’s Prize within the Particular Awards class on the twenty third Bucheon Worldwide Animation Pageant (BIAF) in October.
