Netflix Anime’s YouTube channel started streaming a behind-the-scenes video on Tuesday for Brilliant: Samurai Soul, its new anime movie based mostly on the 2017 Brilliant live-action movie that starred Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
The movie debuted on Netflix on October 12.
Yūki Nomura — a Kyōgen stage actor — made his voice actor debut within the movie, starring as Izo the ronin. Daisuke Hirakawa performs the orc Raiden, and Shion Wakayama performs the elf Sonya.
Netflix describes the story:
Izo, a Ronin, and Raiden, an orc, work to carry a younger elf woman and the wand she carries to the land of the elves within the north.
Kyōhei Ishiguro (Occultic;9, Kids of the Whales) directed the movie. Michiko Yokote (Shirobako, Jail College, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin) penned the script. Atsushi Yamagata (Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Genocyber, Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend) designed the characters. 3D CG animation studio Arect animated the movie.
