The Gekijō-ban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime movie opened in Japan on Friday, and earned 2,694,128,150 yen (about US$23.5 million) in its first three days. The movie topped the field workplace chart for the weekend.

The movie relies on Gege Akutami‘s Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu Excessive Faculty) manga prequel story, with MAPPA animating once more and TOHO distributing. Viz Media launched the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga in January 2021, and it describes the story:

Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous highschool scholar who’s affected by a major problem—his childhood buddy Rika has become a Curse and will not go away him alone. Since Rika is not any peculiar Curse, his plight is observed by Satoru Gojo, a trainer at Jujutsu Excessive, a college the place fledgling exorcists learn to fight Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, however can he study sufficient in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?

Megumi Ogata is voicing the primary character Yuta Okkotsu, and Kana Hanazawa is voicing the character Rika Orimoto.

The live-action Kamen Rider: Past Generations movie fell from #4 to #7 in its second weekend. The movie earned 46,128,280 yen (about US$401,900) from Friday to Sunday for a cumulative complete of 254,779,120 yen (about US$2.22 million).

Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahō no Ko (The Magical Little one of the Blue Moonlit Night time), the second movie in San-X‘s Sumikko Gurashi franchise, fell from #8 to #9 in its eighth weekend. The movie earned 20,685,680 yen (about US$180,200) from Friday to Sunday), and has earned a cumulative complete of 1,113,573,000 yen (about US$9.70 million). The movie has bought greater than 900,000 tickets.

The movie opened in Japan on November 5, and bought about 200,000 tickets to earn about 250 million yen (about US$2.22 million) in its first three days.

Takahiro Ōmori (Durarara!!, Natsume’s E-book of Associates, Princess Jellyfish) directed the movie. Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Lu over the wall, Ok-ON!) penned the script, and Kaori Hino (Modest Heroes, Napping Princess) returned from the primary movie because the artwork director. Fanworks returned to animate the movie, and ASMIK Ace is distributing.

Within the movie’s story, the primary characters go on a tenting journey someday within the fall, and that evening they recall a legend: that after each 5 years, on the evening of a giant and blue full moon, magical creatures will go to the city. The characters search for, solely to see a big and blue moon overhead.

Sumikko Gurashi debuted in 2012 as barely unfavorable characters who like to remain within the nook of a room. The characters embrace “Shirokuma,” a polar bear who’s delicate to chilly; “Penguin?” (with a query mark in its title), a penguin who’s uncertain whether it is really a penguin; “Tonkatsu,” a chunk of pork cutlet that was left uneaten; “Neko,” a shy cat; and “Tokage,” who hides his nature as one of many final dinosaurs.
