Shogakukan revealed on Monday that Gosho Aoyama‘s Detective Conan (Meitantei Conan) manga has 250 million copies in circulation worldwide (together with copies not bought). The manga’s a hundredth compiled e-book quantity shipped in Japan on Monday.

Aoyama launched the manga in 1994. The manga has spawned a tv anime that has been operating since 1996, in addition to an accompanying anime movie collection. The twenty fourth movie within the collection, Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, opened on April 16. The movie earned a cumulative whole of seven,479,317,860 yen (about US$67.86 million).

Three spinoff manga for the franchise are inspiring upcoming anime variations: Meitantei Conan Keisatsu Gakkō Hen Wild Police Story (Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc Wild Police Story), Detective Conan: Hannin no Hanzawa-san, and Detective Conan: Zero no Tea Time.
